Lyle & Scott – Birth Of A Golden Eagle
Lyle & Scott has been around for over a century. Since 1874, in a Scottish town called Hawick, a Mr. Lyle and a Mr. Scott got together to create a stylish and wearable type of clothing. You can still find their classic looks as well as more evolved styles still today.
In the 1950′s they began an exclusive cashmere collection with world renowned Christian Dior. This of course opened them up to an entirely new market. With this they were able to help make an even bigger name for themselves.
Once they began to get noticed, they decided that they needed an emblem. A mascot of some sort that people would be able to recognize by itself without even seeing their brand name. It was not long before they thought of the golden eagle. Before too long, this eagle was on every single article of clothing that they make. People immediately began to recognize this emblem as the official Lyle & Scott brand. Musicians and television presenters alike have been known to proudly wear the golden eagle while on stage or on TV.
With their golden eagle in place, they quickly began to catch the attention of golfers. Their polo shirts were perfect for the avid golfer. Paired with a cardigan or worn alone, these tops were a hit on the golf course.
Once the eighties hit, Lyle & Scott found a new fan base. Young and casual hipsters began to wear the golden eagle out and about. From socialites to indie bands and to young up and coming television presenters, Lyle & Scott began to get the attention of the younger crowd. To this day, you can find the Lyle & Scott golden eagle worn by the young, old and everyone in between.
In 1985, Lyle & Scott created their very first line of women’s clothing. The women’s line included a vast selection of golf range clothing. Since then, the Lyle & Scott women’s brand has continued to grow and evolve throughout the years.
In 2005, Lyle & Scott began their vintage range of clothing. Their first ever stand alone store was opened up in London in 2005 as well. In 2007 their heritage collection was started up. They made this line with a tonal and more discrete logo. With this new collection brought an entirely new base of celebrities.
Their most recent collection of lyle and scott is their Club collection. This collection is aimed at the stylish and young golfer. An accessories line has recently been created with the Lyle & Scott golden eagle brand. This includes scarves, shoes and bags as well as many other accessories including gloves.
